Many blogs and review sites take the occasional look back at cinema of yesteryear, of those great and now-classic movies of the 1980s and 90s that have become part of the American cultural consensus. The authors rewatch older movies with new eyes, and often talk about the societal or cultural implications that either were relevant back then, or have changed in today’s world. I’m doing something different.
Often I’ll be reminded of movies that I haven’t seen in a long while, and I think it would be an interesting exploration to talk about those films, through the rose-colored glasses of my own memory. There is absolutely no guarantee that the posts will accurately describe what’s in the film, as in most cases it has been well over a decade since I last saw the movies, but I hope that they will be interesting and entertaining to boot.
I have the below movies already slated for reviews, with many more to come. I’ll be including them in the HRM category for ease of searching for those who are interested in looking through the archive – once I have an archive, that is.
- Amelie
- Solaris
- Alien: Resurrection
- Dead Poets Society
- The Cooler
- Sunshine
- Underworld
- Hackers
- Blade
- Event Horizon
- of course many more!
