Poetic Musing-old

Poetic Musings

Thank you for taking this literary journey with me! Here I post personal thoughts on social issues, reflections about day-to-day living, and of course a healthy amount of stories inspired by the many games I’ve played over the years. I try to update several times a week, and genuinely appreciate the care and support of all who read these words, whether the post is fanciful or heartfelt.

The Where to Start page has great suggestions for first-time visitors, and all posts are sorted by the Categories you see in the right-side menu; feel free to narrow things down!

A New Kind of Game

One of the most difficult balancing acts for the storytellers of a Vampire: the Masquerade game – particularly one with live-action elements or a large player-base – is to provide character agency while also enforcing the standards and archetypes of the setting. This...

Conquest: the Isle of Winds

Conquest: the Isle of Winds

Standing on the bluffs which once ringed Sentinel Strand, I marveled at the immense vortex of wind which all but concealed the keep at its center. "The Wind-wall," Mattias offered, having met us at the entrance to the Strand....

Covert Ops: Breakout

Covert Ops: Breakout

By and large, the snap decisions people make in their everyday lives – which size coffee to buy, whether to take that parking space or look for a closer one, stay on the freeway or try a bypass – aren't matters of life and death, particularly theirs. Nobody's going to...
